Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 23, 2026
Welcome to CodeHider.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services. We value your trust, and our goal is to be transparent about how we handle your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve our services. The types of information we collect include:
- Account Information: When you create an account (via Google sign-in or email/password), we collect your email address and, if provided, your name. This is used solely for authentication and to identify you as a user.
- Usage Data: We collect data about your interactions with our service, such as which features you use, the presets you select, and the frequency of obfuscation. This data is tied to your account (so we can, for example, show your usage back to you) but never contains your actual code or its content. It helps us understand usage patterns and improve our tool.
- Code You Provide: Obfuscation always runs entirely in your browser, on your device — code you paste or upload is never sent to our servers. When you load a page by URL, we first try to fetch it directly from your browser; if that page blocks direct browser access (many sites do), we fetch its public markup through our own server as a fallback, the same content anyone can already see via "View Source." That fallback fetch is not stored and is not used for anything beyond relaying the page back to your browser.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain Our Service: We use your account information to provide you with access to our features, such as viewing and downloading obfuscated code.
- To Improve Our Service: Aggregated, anonymous usage data helps us identify popular features, diagnose problems, and make our tool more effective and user-friendly.
- To Communicate With You: We may use your email address to send you important service updates, security notifications, or information about new features. We promise not to spam you. You may also receive occasional marketing emails with special offers or news, from which you can unsubscribe at any time.
3. Data Storage and Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Here’s how we protect it:
- Authentication: We use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to securely manage user accounts. We do not handle or store your passwords directly.
- Data Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Code Privacy: Your source code is your intellectual property. Obfuscation happens entirely on your device — we do not read, store, receive, or share the code you paste or upload with any third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase: For user authentication (Google sign-in or email/password) and to store basic usage counts (such as which features and presets you've used) tied to your account. Google has its own privacy policy, which you can review here.
- Stripe: For payment processing if you purchase Pro or a one-time export credit. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we do not see or store your card information. Stripe's privacy policy is available here.
- Resend: For sending account and product emails (such as sign-in confirmations and occasional product updates) to the email address associated with your account.
- Microsoft Clarity: We use Microsoft Clarity to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products/services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products/services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have control over your personal information:
- Account Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at help@codehider.com. We will delete your account information from our systems within 30 days of a verified request. Note that CodeHider never receives or stores the code you paste or upload in the first place, so there is nothing beyond your account and usage records to delete.
- Email Communications: You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us by following the unsubscribe link included in those emails.
6. Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
